“Rights to go” is an international training of youth workers that supports the social, through labour market, inclusion of young migrants and refuges in the host countries by strengthening and inspiring the development of youth work support mechanisms for labour market inclusion of young migrants and refugees in the host countries. More precisely, with “Rights to go” we want to create an opportunity for youth workers’ capacity development for providing career counselling and labour market related information services for job seeking young migrants and refugees as part of youth work programmes. In order to do that we want to strengthen youth workers’ competences for understanding and working on improvement of access to social rights of young migrants and refuges, and contributing to the implementation of the Recommendation CM/Rec (2015)/3 for improvement of access to social rights of young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods. It is our belief that social inclusion, accessing and enjoying social rights can significantly contribute to creating and maintaining peaceful societies and can prevent radicalization of young people and their manipulation by terrorist of any kind.
“Rights to go” addresses a wide European problem that affects all European countries and beyond, It offers an opportunity to participants to identify common values in spite of their cultural differences; challenge viewpoints that perpetuate inequality, discrimination and will promote the respect of cultural diversity and fight against xenophobia and radicalization.
Third-country nationals living in the EU face significant barriers when entering the labour market. They are also more at risk of poverty or social exclusion compared to natives, even when they are in employment. The socio-economic outcomes of refugees are even worse. They represent one of the most vulnerable groups of migrants on the labour market and society as a whole. With asylum applications in the European Union having surpassed 1.2 million in 2015, the need for a more coordinated European response in all relevant policy areas has become immanent. Beyond meeting the immediate needs of refugees and asylum seekers, it is essential to promote their active integration in host societies. As social inclusion is closely linked to successful labour market integration, the question of how to ensure swift access to and integration in the labour market has become a prominent issue on the policy agenda in many EU Member States. This is not surprising as, in addition to facilitating social inclusion, labour market integration is an economically rational response, especially if it is done in an efficient way.
Through Rights to go! we want to strengthen and inspire the development of youth work support mechanisms for labour market inclusion of young migrants and refugees in the host countries. We are focused on: improvement of youth workers’ competences for approaching, understandings and providing career guidance and labour market related informing services to job seeking young migrants and refugees; exploring and learning how career counselling and support measures for job seeking young migrants and refugees can be integrated in youth work programmes; exploring the role that Recommendation CM/Rec (2015)3 can play in supporting labour market inclusion of young migrants and refugees in the host countries and creating support network for young migrants and refuges that will work on ensuring that young people make a successful move into employment.
